Online Course Welcome to this e-learning programme focussed on creating an inclusive and accessible workplace for everyone, whatever their cognitive and behavioural traits. At its simplest, neurodiversity is the idea that people’s brains are different and that these differences are normal. Individuals who may be described as autistic, dyslexic or having a diagnosis such as attention deficit disorder are more helpfully thought of as not abnormal but part of a continuum of different forms of cognitive processing. This aspect of human diversity, like others, should be accommodated and celebrated. Employers can play a crucial role in supporting neurodiversity by creating inclusive workplaces that break down stigma and make individuals feel valued, supported and understood. Understanding neurodiversity and supporting people who may be excluded by workplace norms shaped around concepts of what is neurotypical will ensure that organisations benefit from cognitive diversity and the talents, skills, commitment and insights across the population as a whole. Three key learning outcomes- Exploring neurodiversity: Who and what are we talking about
- The legal framework: Understanding how neurodiversity relates to the concept of ‘disability’ in The Equality Act 2010.
- Being a more inclusive colleague and manager
Conclusion
By the end of this course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of neurodiversity and its implications for the workplace. With practical strategies and insights, they will be equipped to create a more inclusive and supportive environment that values the unique contributions of all employees.
